Strong showing for Stott in Valdosta

VALDOSTA, Ga. - Quain Stott drove his LeeBoy Equipment Corvette to a semi-final finish at the ADRL Hardee's Georgia Drags V at South Georgia Motorsports Park this past weekend. The strong outing started when Stott marched his outlaw ride to the number five qualifying spot in the field that saw 28 Pro Extreme cars fight it out for one of the 16 spots available for eliminations. The effort kept Stott in the number two position in the "Battle for the Belts" point standings.

"We were pretty happy with the results," Stott said. "We don't have many laps on this screw charger and we're still trying to figure it out."

Each of Stott's elimination passes were consistent and grew stronger as the event progressed (3.837, 3.795 and 3.775). Stott faced former teammate Tommy D'Aprile in round two action. Both D'Aprile and Stott had strong reaction times, with D'Aprile taking the slight advantage (.029 to Stott's .034).But it was Stott's horsepower and the LeeBoy Equipment Corvette taking the win light with a strong 3.795 pass to D'Aprile's 3.871.

Quain again improved his performance on the tree and under the hood during his semi-final match up with Jason Scruggs. Stott was able to bank .024 at the tree (Stott's .049 to Scrugg's .073) and put up a valiant effort (3.775 @ 198.29 mph) to Scruggs' blistering pass (3.724 @ 204.29 mph).

While there was some controversy surrounding the Scruggs entry and the use of exotic metals on the chassis, Stott had his take on the situation. "I looked at Jason's car," Stott said. "That chassis is a work of art. There's only thing I see illegal about what Jason is doing and that's kicking my butt every time he pulls up next to me," Stott laughed.

Stott has been the victim of Jason's record setting run (3.703 09/15/07) and again this weekend as Scruggs made the second quickest pass in a Pro Extreme Pro Modified Outlaw car.

Stott is second in all-time wins in ADRL competition with four. He'll attempt to tie Joshua Hernandez with 5 wins during the ADRL Memphis Drags, May 22-23 at the Memphis Motorsports Park. For more information visit http://adrl.us
