Stott Shakes Out of Suzuki Motor City Nationals
Milan, Mich. - Quain Stott and his LeeBoy, TORCO Race Fuels powered Pro Modified Corvette made their way to the Suzuki Motor City Nationals. Stott and his team will head back to North Carolina to fight another day.
Stott would make a hard charge at qualifying, ending up 11th among the 36 teams trying for a spot in the field of 16. Stott would face Danny Rowe in the first round of eliminations in a match of '63 Corvettes. Rowe would go on to win the round as Stott fell victim to tire shake.
Stott and the LeeBoy team would be the second pair out in Knoll Gas - TORCO Race Fuels Pro Modified, right behind his team car driven by Tommy D'Aprile. D'Aprile would make a trip to the sand pits, allowing Stott time to think about his match-up with Rowe.
"Maybe I had too much time to think about it," Stott explained. Stott would make a final minute clutch adjustment waiting on the track clean up after the D'Aprile incident. "The track as a little tricky all weekend for us," he added. "Who knows what would have happened if I hadn't changed the clutch setup. I'm certain we wouldn't have shook the tires at the hit."
There won't be anytime for Stott and his team to worry about Milan. Servicing the cars and repairs to D'Aprile's ride will keep the team busy day and night going into the next race. "We're having a pretty good year," Stott added. "We just need to make sure that we stay after it. We can't let something like this affect us adversely. We just need to keep doing the same things that have gotten us to this point and we'll be fine. Toronto is just a few weeks away, we'll be ready."
Quain Stott and his LeeBoy team will make the sixth stop of the eMax Drag Racing series, July 21-24 at the IHRA Canadian Nationals.
